Reiter Engineering concluded rounds 9 and 10 of the ADAC GT Masters with two more victories. While the Drivers’ Championship is still to be decided, Hans Reiter’s team clinched the Team Championship at the penultimate round of the season. Hans Reiter is relaxed about the outcome of the drivers’ championship: “Only one of our drivers can win the championship. However, I hope the drivers don’t forget that hey are team mates and the racing stays hard but fair in the fight for the championship.”

Christopher Haase and Jos Menten collected the winners’ spoils for Reiter Engineering in the first race on Saturday. The pair pulled away from the chasing pack immediately the lights turned green and scored the fifth victory of the season for Christopher Haase. However, the 19-year old was unable to fully enjoy the win: “I don’t really want to think about it at the moment, a lot can happen in the race on Sunday.”

The young ace, born in Kulmbach, probably did not realise at this point in time just how right he was. Christophe Haase held a 21-point lead before Sunday’s race, with only 30 points still to be awarded in the remaining rounds. Since the race on Sunday afternoon his lead has shrunk to 11 points with 20 still up for grabs. The championship leader had to start the tenth ADAC GT Masters race from the pit lane; a defective rear wheel hub in the 23rd lap ended any dreams of wrapping up the title early.

Peter Kox and Albert von Thurn und Taxis drove a text book lights-to-flag victory, setting fastest lap in the process, and were able to reduce the gap to Haase.

“Car numbers 6 and 7 have won eight of the ten ADAC GT Masters races so far this season, whereas the number 8 car appears to have attracted a season’s worth of bad luck,” summarised Team Boss Hans Reiter of the team’s number one concern. Following a collision on the opening lap Achim Winter and his Italian co-driver Stefano Gabellini were left to rue ‘what might have been’ after their fourth non-finish of the season. A heavily damaged front end forced the mechanics to work into the early hours to repair the car. The Lamborghini Gallardo was presented with a colourful mix of body panels in the morning. The efforts of the team were rewarded in the race on Sunday. Winter/Gabellini claimed sixth position overall and third place in the Lamborghini classification.
