FIA GT1 : No Reiter Engineering Lamborghini in Nogaro France
The #28 Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT, driven by Peter Kox and Jos Menten, will not take part in the ninth round of the FIA-GT championship in Nogaro. At the last race in Brno, a broken wheel nut caused a left front wheel to loosen and break away shortly before the end of the race.
After first analysis, a material defect was detected as the reason for the breakage. Because of the short time period between Brno and Nogaro, it was not possible to find a solution or to eliminate the failure of the wheel part. So Reiter Engineering will withdraw their car for safety reasons from the race in France.
“We cannot be sure that that this failure wouldn’t happen again in Nogaro“, said Hans Reiter about the situation. “We do not want to put our drivers Peter Kox and Jos Menten, or our material, to such a risk. We have until the final round at Zolder to try and find a solution for this problem in cooperation with our supplier.”
