Peter Kox and Jos Menten were forced to tread carefully in free practice since they had fewer tyres at their disposal after missing a race and as stipulated by the regulations. “The performance is good, 1:28 lap times are certainly well within our possibilities,”predicted Hans Reiter. Local matador Jos Menten reduced the deficit to the leading group in qualifying by several tenths with a lap time of 1:27.351 minutes, which meant tenth position on the grid.

Start driver Jos Menten worked his way up to eighth place in the first short 14 lap stint before handing driving duties over to Peter Kox as scheduled. The Netherlander benefited from this early pit stop and was able to fight his way through the field to second place. Kox defended the position throughout the entire middle stint, and was also able to hold the fast lapping and Corvette from Carsport Holland at bay before peeling-off down pit road for the second mandatory pit stop on lap 48.

Jos Menten rejoined the race in seventh place. A hard but fair wheel-to-wheel battle with one of the BMS Aston Martins dominated the final stint of the race; Jos Menten claimed the position and took the chequered flag in a well earned sixth position.
