GT3 Series : FIA GT3 European Championship

The FIA GT3 armada travelled to Dubai for the final round of the championship. The last two sixty-minute races were on the agenda at the circuit located in the desert. S.Berg Racing sent three Lamborghini Gallardo to the Middle East, including the Swiss professional racer Jean-Denis Deletraz, who steered a Gallardo together with his countryman Lloyd la Marca. La Marca and Deletraz also claimed the best Lamborghini positions with tenth and thirteenth in the two races.
Erik Janis is the best placed Lamborghini driver in sixth position in the final Championship standings. The Czech was, however, unable to compete as he had been called-up to race for his home nation in the A1 Grand Prix Series.
FIA-GT3 Lamborghini Cup
A ‘one-make-cup’ series is for each brand is also held within the framework of the European Championship. A total of 18 drivers scored points during the 2007 season in the Lamborghini classification.
The most succesful and constant Gallardo driver was Austrian Hans Knauss from the S.Berg Racing team. The 36-year old former ski ace Ski Star (Silver in Giant Slalom 2003, Silver at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games) scored points every one of the twelve Lamborghini Cup races and claimed first place with 51 points at the final chequered flag.
Partnering Knauss as co-drivers throughout the year were Werner Grobl and Jan Danis. Hans Knauss only started his motorsport career in 2006 and made his debut in the FIA GT3 European Championship with the S.Berg Gallardo in 2007. By claiming second place at Silverstone and in Bucharest, Knauss easily surpassed his target of finishing once on the podium made before the season started.
