Peter Kox and Jos Menten were forced to tread carefully in free practice since they had fewer tyres at their disposal after missing a race and as stipulated by the regulations. “The performance is good, 1:28 lap times are certainly well within our possibilities,”predicted Hans Reiter. Local matador Jos Menten reduced the deficit to the leading group in qualifying by several tenths with a lap time of 1:27.351 minutes, which meant tenth position on the grid.
The #28 Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT, driven by Peter Kox and Jos Menten, will not take part in the ninth round of the FIA-GT championship in Nogaro. At the last race in Brno, a broken wheel nut caused a left front wheel to loosen and break away shortly before the end of the race.
Just two weeks after the last event at the Adria Raceway, the fight for the FIA-GT Championship continued in Brno, Czech Republic. Early on in the weekend the free practice sessions looked to be a good omen for Peter Kox and Jos Menten as, in the second session, they were fastest of the big GT1 field. Peter Kox qualified the Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT and drove the fifth best lap time on the hilly circuit near Brno.
