Perfect position for the Reiter Lamborghini
The leaders in the championship of the ADAC GT Masters, Albert on Thurn und Taxis (27, Regensburg) and Peter Kox (46, NL) brought themselves in a perfect position on their way to the cup.
In the qualifying of the second last ADAC GT Masters weekend of the season Peter Kox claimed the pole position in the Reiter-Lamborghini Gallardo for the second race on sunday. The fastest one in the qualifying for the first race on saturday was Martin Matzke(20, CZ) in the s-berg racing-BMW-Alpina.
S-berg racing from was celebrating because of Martin Matzke. The Czech saved himself the pole position for the race on saturday shortly before the end of the qualifying and placed ADAC GT Masters rookie Christian Frankenhout(28, NL) in the Rosberg Audi R8 on the second position. Two Audis were starting from the second row. Jens Klingmann(20, Leimen) was 0.172 seconds faster in his R8 from Abt Sportsline then Jimmy Johansson(26, S) starting for Pole Promotion. "We had a good strategy in the qualifying", Matzke said gladly. "Shortly before the qualifying it rained, the track was still wet on some places at the beginning. I waited very long and didn't attack until nearly the end of the qualifying session, when the track was completely dry. That payed of." A lot of excitement premisses the fourth starting row because from there the two championship competitors are starting. Leader of the championship Albert on Thurn undo Taxis qualified for the seventh position and so starts one place ahead of the second in the championship Luca Ludwig(21, Bonn) i the Abt Audi R8.
In the second Qualifying for the race on sunday Peter Kox was unbeatable. The Lamborghini driver already set three best times at the beginning of the 20 minute qualifying and ensured himself the over all fifth pole position in the ADAC GT Masters. Christopher Mies (21, Heiligenhaus) placed his Abt Audi R8 on position four. Christian Hohenadel (33, Quierscheid) in his Calway Corvette and Andreas Wirth (25, Heidelberg) in the s-berg BMW Alpina took the positions between the competitors for the cup Kox and Mies. Tim Bergmeister (35, Langenfeld), who also still has great chances for the cup as third in the championship, qualified together with his teammate Frank Schmickler (45, Rösrath) for the laces five and nine. The former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo (43,FIN), who drove for the first time in the ADAC GT Masters on the Nurburgring, placed his Callaway Competition Corvette on position 11 for race two on sunday.
