The second round of the ET.China AGT Masters was held last weekend in Zhuhai, China and could not have been more exciting for motorsport fans. Eddie YAU in his REITER Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 and his rival Paul Poon, who contested the race in a Ferrari F430 GT3, had a breathtaking duel.
Experienced GT race driver Eddie YAU set a time of 1:40.8 in first qualifying and in doing so secured pole position. Paul Poon took second place ahead of Oliver Lee.
In second qualifying Eddie YAU in the number 72 REITER Gallardo GT3 produced yet another excellent performance: After 4 laps he was able to improve his lap time yet again. The time was seen at the top of the timing screens for the majority of the session, however, in his last outing Paul Poon snatched pole position with a time of 1:40.3. He was followed by Oliver Lee with a lap time of 1:40.6 and therefore pushed YAU down to third on the grid.
Eddie YAU took the lead from the start of the first race. From lap 5 onwards third placed Lee aggressively reduced the gap to Poon to a mere 0.2 seconds. Eddie YAU comfortably maintained first place to the chequered flag in his REITER Gallardo GT3 and, in doing so, left Paul Poon in the Ferrari F430 GT3 and Oliver Lee in his wake.
Although the result of the second race was very similar to the first, the race itself was much more exciting. Eddie YAU started the second race in third place in his REITER Lamborghini. Immediately after the start YAU found a good line before establishing himself at the head of the field shortly afterwards. YAU led till lap seven in his REITER Gallardo GT3 before being overtaken by Paul Poon who had gradually closed the gap to leader YAU - on lap four the gap was 0.8, on lap five 0.2. An exciting wheel-to-wheel battle ensued and Poon overtook YAU three times, who then repeatedly took back his lead. In the final ten laps the gap was only 0.1 seconds. In the end it was the Lamborghini driver that saw the chequered flag first. Eddie YAU (REITER Gallardo GT3) won from Paul Poon (Ferrari F430 GT3) and Samsong Fung.
