Taplin Wins Trophy Category in Australian GT Championship

Andrew Taplin in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP520 won the Trophy category of the Australian GT Championship in the first one-hour race of the weekend. Now in second place in the overall standings and with 57 points, he is only 4 points behind the leading duo Koutsoumidis/McInnes who are also competing in a Gallardo in this championship.
The other cars of the Trophy category did not stand a chance in the qualifying when Taplin set the fastest time which also was the fourth-fastest time in the overall standings.
However, he had bad luck in the second race. After damaging two tyres he had dropped to P17 by the end of the race, three laps behind the leading car.

Koutsoumidis/McInnes in the Lamborghini had bad luck with a damaged tyre in the first race and lost a lot of time. They drove across the finish line in P20. They secured P7 in the second race. However, they are still leading the Trophy category by a slim margin.

The next round of the Australian GT Championship will take place in Winton, near Melbourne (AUS) on the weekend of June 22th – 24th.
