19 July 2012

The motorsports team from Wegberg (DEU) with team principal Ingo Leipert has been firmly established in national and international motorsports for many years. In recent years, the team celebrated many successes in Formula and Touring Car championships.

Consequentially, the team joined the GT sports in 2009. And in 2011, the team principal decided to use Lamborghini cars for the races. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP were developed by Reiter Engineering (DEU) for GT racing and are very successful in many GT racing series all over the world. A total of 90 Reiter Gallardos are currently entered for international races.

In the first year, rhinos Leipert Motorsport took a phenomenal third place (of 17 teams) in the overall standings of the European Blancpain Endurance Series, with the team competing in the Professional/Amateur Class. At the same, time the team entered two Lamborghini Gallardo for the competitive German GT3 Championship, the ADAC GT Masters, and secured some Top 5 places.

The current season started early for rhinos Leipert Motorsport, at the 24h Dubai in January. With international drivers in the cockpit of the Gallardo LP600+, they took the ninth place in the overall standings.
The team is particularly successful in the FIA GT3 European Championship, having scored six podium places and one victory.

Team Principal Ingo Leipert:
“The GT3 European Championship is basically new territory for us this year, even though we took part in some of the races in 2011. This season the championship actually started with the third race for us, when our driver duo David Mengesdorf (DEU) and Harald Proczyk (AUT) took over the cockpit. They have been doing very well in the standings. We really like this championship and I hope that we continue to be successful with the team and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP600”.
