Even though Giacomo Piccini and Giovanni Berton had already clinched the championship in the GT3A Class with the MIK Corse Gallardo, the two Italians chose not to rest on their laurels during the final event of the season. Piccini took the GT3 pole position in first qualifying and an incredible fourth position overall. A great performance, particularly as the top-ten positions in the Italian GT Championship are normally occupied by the faster GT2 cars. They also shone in second qualifying by taking the class pole again and sixth fastest overall.

The last two races of the season ran even better for the Lamborghini duo. In the first race Piccini / Berton did not only win their class again, but by taking second place overall mounted the podium alongside the overall winner. The GT3A victory in the second race was simply the logical conclusion. Fifth place overall underlined the two drivers’ excellent performance. Piccini / Berton extended their lead in the final championship standings to 21 points.

Final standings GT3A
