Lamborghini-Gallardo-JBS-AUS-front-bathurst12hours3

Reiter Engineering customer JBS Australia finishes seventh with the Gallardo FL2 GT3 in the spectacular endurance race on Mount Panorama.

David Russell, Roger Lago and Steve Owen battled with the competition around Mount Panorama for 268 laps in their Reiter Engineering developed Gallardo FL2 GT3. After the race at Bathurst started at dawn around the 6 kilometre long track, JBS Australia held a top 3 position for almost two hours. The pits stop skilfully made during the many safety car phases kept the Australian team within striking distance of the factory drivers in the Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin and Nissan GT cars.

As the temperatures increased rapidly during the day, the Gallardo trio reduced their pace a little and avoided taking risks. This would pay off in the final third of the race when they moved into the top 10 again at the expense of the factory-backed teams. David Russell took over for the final stint and fought his way up...

David Russell brings JBS Australia in perfect starting position for 12-hour classic.

Following Saturday morning’s final free practice session, which the Reiter Engineering customer teams JBS Australia and Interlloy M Motorsport used to make final set-up changes to their Gallardo FL2 GT3, the important qualifying session to determine the grid was on the agenda. This season was divided into two parts.

A 60-minute session involving all the cars opened proceedings, followed by a separate 20-minute session exclusively for the GT3 cars  JBS Australia only sent its Gallardo FL2 GT3 onto the track after almost half an hour, which was enough for driver David Russell to set the tone. Just a single lap was sufficient to record the fourth fastest qualifying time. Afterwards, Russell parked the Gallardo in the pits ready to attack in the second part of qualifying.

With the air temperature over 30 degrees and more than 40 degrees track temperature, these final 20 minutes would decide...

Reiter Engineering customer JBS Australia heads the field in free practice after setting the best time of the day and targets a top position in qualifying.

In four turbulent practice sessions, during which the teams were unable to find a rhythm due to the many interruptions because of accidents, the Reiter Engineering customer JBS Australia and its drivers David Russell, Roger Lago and Steve Owen grabbed the limelight. In the Gallardo FL2 GT3, Russell recorded the fastest lap of 2m 05.923s to head the entire field in the first 60-minute practice session.

Following an extremely satisfying first racing season in the North American Pirelli World Challenge, Reiter Engineering expands its commitment in the USA.

The tuning stable, from which the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, Camaro GT3 and the new KTM X-Bow originate, has opened its own base in the USA in College Corner, close to the racing city Indianapolis. Reiter Engineering now supplies all North American customers from this new base with spare parts for all three in-house developed and manufactured racecars, and offers corresponding services. In addition, the workshop also acts as hub for all future activities of Reiter Engineering’s race team. A programme in the Pirelli World Challenge is already fixed. Only the number of cars that Reiter will enter remains open.

Alongside the races due to be contested with the Reiter Lamborghinis, the signs are good that the Camaro will also compete this year. “We’ve been approached by a renowned US race team owner. Their dream is to race in the Pirelli World Challenge with...
