Third podium finish in the Pirelli World Challenge for Blancpain Racing

Nick Catsburg brings Blancpain Racing Gallardo R-EX home in 2nd place at Barber Motorsports Park.

Blancpain Racing driver Nick Catsburg pulled away from the main field in a group of three immediately after the start. He easily defended his second place in qualifying and put the leader constantly under pressure. Catsburg kept his cool during various safety car phases in the 50-miunte race. At the re-starts, the Dutchman cleverly exploited the strengths of his Gallardo GT3 R-EX and continued his hunt for first place.

As the leaders began lapping the slower cars on lap 11, Catsburg clawed his way closer to the leader and, with only five minutes left to run, put himself in a perfect position to overtake.

Reiter Engineering is also involved in the GT Sports Club and brought a Gallardo R-EX to the premiere of racing series in Spanish Barcelona for budding talent Naomi Schiff. A second FL2 GT3 version of the Gallardo was fielded by the customer team NSC Motorsport for Thierry Verstraete.

The GT Sports Club lives from its lean format in which free practice, qualifying and two races of 25 and 40 minutes are completed within 24 hours. As a result, only a few laps were available to get to grips with the Circuit Catalunya. However, both Naomi Schiff and Thierry Verstraete set good lap times.

Things got serious for the first time on Saturday afternoon with the 25-minute qualifying race.

Good team performance at Blancpain Sprint Series opener in Nogaro goes unrewarded.

After the being barged out of the qualifying race early, the Reiter Engineering team did everything possible to repair the damaged Gallardo R-EX for the main Blancpain Sprint Series race in Nogaro. After several laps in the warm-up, it was clear that the R-EX was ready for another attack on the leading positions.

However in keeping with Murphy’s Law, “if it can go wrong it will go wrong”, the main race was over sooner than expected. On the previous day, Nick Catsburg and Albert von Thurn und Taxis had avoided the turmoil at the start and could run with the leading group. However, everything went wrong on Easter Monday. A competitor touched the Gallardo driven by Albert von Thurn und Taxis in such a way that really fast lap times were not possible due to the damage.

However, giving up was not an option. The team decided to finish the
